Prime Minister candidate Kim Min-seok said on the 17th, "This South Korean presidential election is a victory for democracy against dictatorship, a victory for pragmatism against far-right ideology, and a victory for collective intelligence against elite vested interests."
Candidate Kim stated at a press conference held at the Korean Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, "Korea has encountered difficulties at the gateway to advanced countries with an archaic military coup, but we will surely overcome this challenge with the world and contribute to global democracy."
He mentioned, "The 2025 Light Revolution following the March 1st peaceful protest movement under Japanese rule in 1919 and the May Gwangju Democratization Movement against military dictatorship in 1980 has preserved the peaceful and cultural traditions of K-democracy, which has exemplary leadership in global democracy," and added, "The Lee Jae-myung government will advocate for a people's sovereignty government and will implement a state administration that enhances public participation."
He particularly noted regarding the 'government's policy posture,' "The president has consistently advocated for 'national interest-centered pragmatic diplomacy,'" and added, "We will make the South Korea-U.S. alliance the solid foundation of Korean foreign security and strengthen cooperation with surrounding countries."
He further added, "We will make special efforts in economic and trade diplomacy to navigate through the geopolitical upheaval and seek regional and strategic stability."
