Representative Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party (Incheon Dong-gu Michuhol-gu) said on the 15th, "What is needed now is not to determine who did better or who was right, but the courage to decide what we should do now," emphasizing that it is time to consolidate internal conflicts and engage in lending struggles. This is interpreted as a reiteration of his opposition to Kim Yong-tae's reform proposal to nullify the party's anti-impeachment position.
On the same day, Representative Yoon held a press conference at the National Assembly, stating, "The Lee Jae-myung administration has essentially seized all three branches of government—executive, legislative, and judicial—while trying to mitigate President Lee Jae-myung's judicial risks and take concrete actions for political retaliation," and added, "However, the People Power Party, which should be stopping this rampage, is in such serious internal turmoil that terms like dissolution crisis are being mentioned."
He was a prominent figure opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol during the previous impeachment phase. He made controversial remarks such as, "The reason we must protect President Yoon Suk-yeol is that he is ultimately the system of Korea itself," and "According to Supreme Court precedents, a state of emergency is viewed as a highly political act and governing action."
In response, Representative Yoon stated, "I take seriously the concerns and awareness expressed within the party regarding the need to withdraw the party's anti-impeachment position." Previously, during the last presidential election campaign, Representative Yoon had strongly opposed Chairperson Kim's proposal to nullify the party's anti-impeachment stance, saying, "We must not cross the line that represents our party's roots and identity." His remarks this day are seen as having a markedly reduced intensity.
Still, Representative Yoon said, "At that time, I chose to oppose the impeachment out of deep anguish, with the conviction to protect liberal democracy and constitutional order," adding, "Now we must overcome the divisions and conflicts within us and once again unite in loyalty for the nation."
Representative Yoon remarked, "What is needed now is not to determine who did better or who was right, but the courage to decide what we must do now."
He continued, "The People Power Party must now shift the front lines from within to outside. We must move forward as a united front of integration, with actions and practices rather than mere words," and emphasized, "The first step is for the entire party to take joint action against the attempts by the Lee Jae-myung administration to seize the judiciary."
