Kim Yong-tae, chair of the emergency countermeasures committee for the People Power Party, noted on the 15th, the 26th anniversary of the 1st Yeonpyeong sea battle, that "the spirit of that day will continue into today's responsibilities."
On the same day, Chair Kim wrote on Facebook, "The 26th anniversary of the 1st Yeonpyeong sea battle, the victory is ongoing."
Chair Kim said, "Our soldiers risked their lives to protect Korea, but the fight is not over," adding, "In the 2002 2nd Yeonpyeong battle and the 2010 sinking of the Cheonan and the shelling of Yeonpyeong, North Korea has not stopped. The gunfire has ceased, but provocations and threats continue."
He continued, "Our soldiers are defending the sea with the same resolve as that day," stating, "I remember the victory from 26 years ago. I will not forget the courage and dedication that protected our homeland."
Chair Kim also added, "No one can replace us in the duty of defending freedom. We will protect it to the end."
