After the presidential election defeat, three-term lawmakers from the People Power Party gathered for the first time to discuss the party's renewal and future course.
On the 9th, Representative Kim Seong-won met with reporters after a senior meeting of three-term lawmakers from the People Power Party held at the National Assembly's lawmaker's office building. Kim stated, "In today's meeting, we shared and exchanged various opinions on reflecting on the presidential election defeat, the party's renewal, and the direction we should move forward."
Representative Kim emphasized, "From now on, all three-term lawmakers will strongly respond with one voice to the legislative oppressions and unconstitutional attempts by Lee Jae-myung's administration and the Democratic Party."
In addition to Representative Kim, 13 three-term lawmakers attended the meeting, including Jeong Jeom-sik, Song Seok-jun, Lim Yi-ja, and Chu Kyung-ho.
Regarding the future of Chairperson Kim Yong-tae, which is expected to be a major topic at the People Power Party's general meeting of lawmakers that day, it was explained that there were various opinions rather than a unified one. "We plan to consolidate opinions and convey them separately to Chairperson Kim," it was stated. "We will convey various opinions on not only the issue of his role but also on plans for the party's development to Chairperson Kim."
On the timing of the national convention, it was mentioned that "there were many opinions that the convention should be held as soon as possible after internal arrangement." It was mentioned that these opinions will be well conveyed to Chairperson Kim on behalf of the three-term lawmakers. The previous day, Chairperson Kim had announced plans to hold the convention by early September.
During the meeting that day, Representative Kim reported that there was no separate discussion regarding the new floor leader to be elected on the 16th.
