As of 12 p.m. on the 3rd, the voter turnout for the 21st presidential election was provisionally calculated at 22.9%.
According to the National Election Commission website, voting, which started simultaneously at 6 a.m. at 14,295 polling stations nationwide, saw 10,151,056 out of a total of 44,391,871 eligible voters cast their ballots over six hours, resulting in a voter turnout of 22.9%.
This is 2.6 percentage points higher than the voter turnout of 20.3% at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022.
The early voting rate will be aggregated starting from the voter turnout announced at 1 p.m. on the same day.
This voting will be conducted for 14 hours until 8 p.m. Unlike early voting, regular voting can only be done at the polling station designated by the voter's address. The locations of polling stations can be verified through the voting information documents delivered to each household, the 'voter registration system' at district and city offices, and the polling place locator service on the National Election Commission website.
However, if voters are in line at the polling station by 8 p.m. and receive a waiting number, they will be allowed to vote even after the closing time.
Voters must carry their resident registration card, passport, driver's license, youth identification card, or a government-issued photo identification document. Stored images cannot be used for mobile identification.
Vote counting is expected to begin around 8:30 p.m. at 251 counting stations nationwide. The National Election Commission forecasted that the outline of the elected candidates would be revealed around midnight. However, this timing may be moved up or delayed depending on the margin of votes between candidates.
