The Democratic Party of Korea and the People Power Party made last-minute appeals for voting until the 3rd, the main voting day of the 21st presidential election. The Democratic Party promotes 'ending the rebellion,' while the People Power Party highlights 'preventing dictatorship.'
Park Chan-dae, the floor leader and the permanent chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, said at a central election meeting held at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, 'Please restore democracy and constitutional order, which have collapsed due to Yoon Seok-yeol's rebellion, through the vote today.'
He added, 'Please revive the livelihoods devastated by Yoon Seok-yeol's three years of incompetence and the wrecked economy through your vote.'
Kang Geum-sil, the general chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, also said, 'I once again urge the citizens to exercise their precious sovereignty to lead the democratic republic of Korea,' adding, 'I hope we can return to a peaceful daily life before the state of emergency.'
On the other hand, the People Power Party expressed hope that a 'golden cross'—where Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate, overtakes Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party—will occur.
Yang Hyang-ja, co-chair of the People Power Party, noted on BBS Radio, 'With Kim Moon-soo closely pursuing Lee Jae-myung, we have entered a period where polls are prohibited,' stating, 'I anticipate a golden cross.'
He stressed, 'One vote can determine the future of the nation,' stating, 'Supporters and voters must vote to win.'
Shin Dong-uk, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, said on SBS Radio, 'Of course, this is an election taking place as the president is being impeached, but it has been a fight against a very unique candidate who symbolizes injustice,' adding, 'As we move into the middle of the election, many voters have remarked that we must prevent a 'dictatorial state.'
He concluded, 'Voting is the most fundamental right and obligation that supports our democratic state,' urging, 'Please be sure to vote to choose a president with democratic legitimacy that reflects the will of the people.'
