Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, on the 2nd, a day before the 6·3 presidential election, said, "If I come to power, I will pursue changes and reforms that the public cannot even imagine," and promised, "I will fundamentally change the operation of the government to meet the demands of the people and the mission of the times, and I will not disappoint the public."
On the same day, the candidate announced an urgent statement at a rally at Busan Station square.
He first repeatedly apologized for the 12·3 martial law situation. Kim noted, "I again apologize for the emergency martial law that should not have happened. The People Power Party and I deeply reflect and will follow the will and aspirations of the people to embark only on the path for the people and the country."
He then reiterated, "I will promote bold party reforms, including internal party democracy, a horizontal relationship between the party and the president, non-interference of the president in party affairs, and a healthy relationship between the party and the government."
He emphasized, "I will not deceive the public or trick them with lies. What I promise, I will implement and prove through results."
He also expressed regret that a unification with Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party had effectively fallen through, saying, "I apologize for failing to achieve the unification," but added, "If you vote for Candidate Lee Jun-seok, you will only be helping Candidate Lee Jae-myung. I will continue to make unification efforts without losing hope until the end." He continued, "Voting for Kim Moon-soo means voting for Kim Moon-soo. I urge overwhelming support so that together with the public we can open a hopeful era for the people."
Furthermore, he appealed that if Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea comes to power, a one-polar system will solidify. Kim claimed, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung, who was engaging in legislative dictatorship and trembling under judicial risks, is now in a position where he could go to prison but is resurrecting, and he is trying to seize all power in Korea and implement a Hitler-like dictatorship." He mentioned the Democratic Party's attempts to impeach the Chief Justice and hold hearings.
He added, "The economy is being pushed with populist pledges that throw a mountain of debt to future generations, such as regional currency," and stated, "The unchanged anti-business, anti-market, pro-labor union policies will become more severe, causing the economy to regress."
The candidate also noted, "As the public became aware of the hypocrisy and frightening reality of Candidate Lee Jae-myung, he is taking regressive steps that should not be done, hiding and blocking this," and he directly refuted the Democratic Party's recent allegations against the conservative-leaning history education organization Rebox School regarding 'comment manipulation.'
The candidate condemned, "The original comment manipulation force, the army of Druking, is trying to associate me with the unheard-of 'Rebox School' and is conducting a drug-like election operation that reminds people of Kim Dae-yeop's screen, ecological stew, and the fake interviews of Kim Man-bae and Shin Hak-rim, up to the ridiculous global fraud incident of fake support announcements by Jim Rogers."
Finally, the candidate appealed for support again, saying, "Tomorrow is a day to choose freedom, not dictatorship."
