Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized that the People Power Party should clarify allegations that the conservative-leaning group 'Rebox School' created a comment manipulation team called 'Freedom Finger Army (자손군)' to manipulate public opinion.
The candidate met with reporters after finishing his campaign in Andong, Gyeongbuk, on the morning of 1st, and said, "Looking at the past records of the People Power Party, it is impossible to dismiss suspicions of substantial backing, and the People Power Party has a DNA of comment manipulation."
In response to a question about the Rebox School allegations, the candidate said, "The Rebox School issue is something that just came to light, but can the People Power Party deny that it has no substance?" He added, "We need to consider who was responsible for the actions of writing comments while posing as a caregiver training program and handing out bogus certificates."
He added, "They praised Kim Moon-soo, defamed Lee Jae-myung, and spread false information to launch political attacks, and the benefits were directly gained by candidate Kim Moon-soo and the People Power Party." He also mentioned, "There were talks about an agreement between candidate Kim Moon-soo and Rebox School; they need to explain why it happened."
A media outlet reported on the 30th that the conservative-leaning group Rebox School confirmed its operation of the 'Freedom Finger Army' comment manipulation team. The Democratic Party of Korea's election campaign committee announced the day before that it would extensively receive reports on comment manipulation and election fraud by establishing a 'Comment Manipulation and Election Fraud Reporting Center.'
The candidate also emphasized, "The People Power Party is the one that mobilized the National Intelligence Service, a state agency, to manipulate comments. Looking at the substance and activities of Rebox School, and its connections with people from the People Power Party, it would be illogical to claim there is no relationship with the People Power Party," and stressed, "The People Power Party needs to clarify its relationship with Rebox School."
On that day, the candidate is set to visit Andong, Ulsan, and Busan for the last weekend of his election campaign. The purpose is to emphasize national unity by visiting his hometown regions, TK (Daegu and Gyeongbuk) and PK (Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam) in succession.
The candidate stated, "I have come this far by proving my ability through results. It is the current behavior of the People Power Party to divide people, rely on that division to oppress opponents, and incite hatred among the public. I aim to unify the people to pool our strength and achieve results; thus, I will be a president of unification, not a 'divisive president.'"
