The People Power Party said on the 1st regarding reports that an extreme right-wing group created a comment manipulation team called "Jasongun (an army of free fingers saving the country through comments)" to manipulate public opinion, "This is a negative offensive by the Democratic Party of Korea to cover up recent issues involving the candidate Lee Jae-myung's son and the negative issues regarding author Yoo Si-min."
Deputy Minister Jang Dong-hyuk held a press conference at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of the same day and noted, "We have already stated our position, but this allegation has nothing to do with presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo or anyone in our election campaign committee."
Deputy Minister Jang stated, "They are claiming without any connection or objective evidence that the People Power Party or Candidate Kim's camp is manipulating comments," adding, "The smell of the Democratic Party's sinister election conspiracy is wafting. "
He said, "What was the situation during the last election? Three days before the election, there was the 'coffee report' election conspiracy with Kim Man-bae and Shin Hak-rim," sharing, "It's the same this time. Three days before the actual voting, the same media is bringing this up, and this candidate is going around campaign sites, marking coordinates and talking, while certain media are spreading this."
Deputy Minister Jang added, "The current situation is certainly not favorable for the Democratic Party, and since it's in a closely contested race that cannot be predicted, I think the Democratic Party is hurriedly using conspiracy and negative strategies," also stating, "We will take strict legal action."
He commented, "The allegations currently raised question what was wrong and what false methods were allegedly used, and attempting to connect the People Power Party or Candidate Kim to this, without any claims, is very impure," and went on to add, "If it comes to comments, is it only this candidate who should be questioned?" He further stated, "If there's no significant issue with who wrote the comments, the method, or the content, then it falls within the realm of freedom of expression," and expressed disappointment over how the allegations were turned upside down and distorted, claiming it was inherently wrong, and further stating that the People Power Party or Candidate Kim was somehow related.
