Kweon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, for the way they dealt with the controversy over the remarks made by former Minister Yoo Si-min on the 1st.
Kweon noted, "Lee Jae-myung appears to be busy defending his lukewarm attitude towards the inflammatory remarks made by former Minister Yoo Si-min," adding, "If Lee Jae-myung becomes president, it will be a return of the Moon Jae-in administration's hypocrisy."
Kweon, through Facebook on this day, questioned, "Even though Lee Jun-seok apologized, he faced legal responsibility for defamation and was expelled from the assembly. Does this mean that Yoo Si-min can be forgiven with just an apology after defaming Seol Nan-young?"
Kweon pointed out, "Contrary to Lee Jae-myung's claims, former Minister Yoo Si-min only admitted that his expression was excessive and did not apologize directly to Seol Nan-young," adding, "Instead, Yoo offered a bizarre excuse of 'an inherent approach,' which was a second round of mockery disguised as an explanation."
Kweon emphasized, "Once again, the hypocrisy DNA of the leftist forces is proving itself," adding, "The only choice to prevent the return of the hypocritical administration is candidate number 2, Kim Moon-soo."
Former Minister Yoo, facing controversy for telling Seol Nan-young, "You're not in your right mind" on May 30, explained, "It was my fault for using rough expression," clarifying there was no intent to disparage women or workers. Yoo also stated, "I said what I did because I understand Seol thinks and acts that way," describing it as "an inherent approach."
