Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, said on the 31st regarding reports that far-right groups established a comment manipulation team for public opinion manipulation, 'Isn't this an act of rebellion?'
The candidate made these comments during a campaign event held at the Baedari Ecological Park in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, in the afternoon, stating, 'We must find every last root and hold them accountable with strict consequences.'
The previous day, a media outlet reported that a conservative group called 'Rebox School' had been confirmed to be operating a comment manipulation team known as 'Jasonggun (the army of fingertips saving the nation with comments).'
The candidate noted, 'The name of the major crime group that manipulated national public opinion by illegally posting comments to overturn election results is said to be "Rebox School". The first letter of 'Re' comes from Rhee Syng-man, and 'Park' likely comes from Park Chung-hee, which is a reasonable inference,' and added, 'This kind of comment manipulation is what the National Intelligence Service used to do.'
He continued, 'It has been reported that they trained teachers at the Neulpum School, but they allegedly issued certificates without proper training. Did those individuals act alone?' and questioned, 'If we train strange individuals to be responsible for the education and care of children, can we teach them anything good?'
The candidate asserted, 'What's more serious is the high correlation with the People Power Party. There are reports that members of the National Assembly were coming and going, and there are claims that they participated together in fake press conferences, indicating that if we dig deeper, we may uncover serious criminal acts that could overturn the nation.'
He remarked, 'In this day and age, manipulating comments and spreading fake news, as well as trying to create election results, is an act of rebellion, isn't it?' and said, 'Can this be forgiven? We must find every last root and hold them strictly accountable.'
The candidate stated, 'How great is the damage to the nation caused by these criminal acts?' and added, 'I am considering creating a system that dramatically improves rewards. Even if we give out 500 million won, if it can prevent such crimes through tips, it's not expensive.'
