The Democratic Party of Korea noted on the 30th regarding a statement made by former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation chairman Yoo Si-min, who described Seol Nan-young, the spouse of Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, as "not in their right mind," that "all speakers of the democratic progressive camp should be cautious in their remarks."
Kang Hoon, head of the Democratic Party of Korea's election countermeasure committee, responded in the afternoon at the party's central headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to a question about how to perceive Yoo's remarks by saying, "Rather than commenting on a specific individual's remarks, I have informed not only the campaign committee but also all speakers of the democratic progressive camp that they should be cautious in their statements."
Kang added, "Speakers of the democratic camp include not only members of the National Assembly but also all party members," stating, "We have the position that we need to be careful with each and every one of these remarks."
He continued, "In a situation where every vote is gathered with sincerity, a single word can hurt someone or cause various efforts to go to waste, so we will proceed with concern and vigilance regarding that."
Previously, on the 28th, Yoo appeared on the YouTube channel "Kim Eo-jun's Das Bweida," where he criticized Seol Nan-young for her criticism of Kim Hye-kyung's alleged misuse of corporate credit cards, saying, "The position of being the spouse of a presidential candidate from a major political party is a place Seol Nan-young cannot reach in her life," adding, "That's why this person is like floating in the air. Thus, they are 'not in their right mind.'"
In response, Kwon Young-guk, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Labor Party, also criticized Yoo, stating in a press release, "He mocked women as not being independent and lacking judgment."
