Na Kyung-won, co-campaign chairperson of the People Power Party, expressed on the 30th that the remarks by former director Yoo Si-min of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, who was embroiled in controversy for allegedly belittling Seol Nan-young, spouse of People Power Party's presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo, are "nonsensical and vile."
Chairperson Na held a press conference on election issues in the morning and said, "It is a distorted and violent sexual consciousness masquerading as progressivism, the most outdated of outdated," in reference to the statement.
Former director Yoo, on the 28th, stated on the YouTube channel "Kim Eo-jun's Das Boeida" that "In Seol Nan-young's view, Kim Moon-soo is such a great person that he is out of balance with me. Through marriage with such a man, she was somewhat elevated," and continued, "Originally, she had reached a position she couldn't handle, as the spouse of a major party's presidential candidate is a position beyond her reach." He added, "This person is now floating in the air. To put it simply, she's not in her right mind, thinking she could become (the president's) wife."
Chairperson Na targeted these remarks by stating, "It not only crosses the line of disparaging women and belittling workers, but it insults the companionate trust and solidarity value between spouses," and added, "It is nonsensical to downgrade the trust between companions to a hierarchy and a vile perception to distort marital solidarity as leftist power lust." She further demanded, "Yoo Si-min must apologize immediately."
She remarked, "Does it make sense for former director Yoo, who always talks about the spirit of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, to say such things? How skewed is this elite consciousness and discriminatory mindset?" She then suggested, "Try comparing the family created by a wife of a lawyer who received a proper education and formed a proper household," which is interpreted as referencing allegations against Kim Hye-kyung, spouse of Democratic Party of Korea candidate Lee Jae-myung, for unauthorized use of a corporate card, and the vulgar language controversy involving Lee's son.
Chairperson Na also commented on the pre-voting management noise on the same day, saying, "The National Election Commission seems to be a helpless organization as there are many suspicions about election management, something I and the party have repeatedly mentioned." She expressed concern, "If distrust and conflict over the election arise from poor management again, it could lead to another national divide. From today onward, more thorough management is needed."
