Presidential candidate Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party noted on the 27th, "There will be no candidate unification with the forces responsible for the state of emergency in this election."
On that day, the candidate held an emergency press conference in front of the National Assembly communication room and said, "I respond clearly to everyone who supports me. I will fight to the end and ultimately win."
With two days to go before the early voting on the 29th, it seems that Lee Jun-seok has ultimately rejected the continuous proposals and pressure for unification with the presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party.
The candidate stated, "In recent days, it seems the Democratic Party has hit the acceleration button and has been spreading fake news to corner me," adding, "According to the Gallup poll released today, the competitiveness gap between me, Lee Jun-seok, and candidate Kim Moon-soo has narrowed to 1 percentage point."
The candidate said, "In the previous survey, the support rate for the two-way battle with candidate Lee Jae-myung was 29%, and in this survey, it has jumped to 40%. This is the miracle of Dongtan."
He claimed, "If this trend continues, I will surpass candidate Kim Moon-soo in today's ongoing survey, and tomorrow's survey may show results where I surpass candidate Lee Jae-myung."
The candidate noted, "In the past, the Justice Party played a role as a secondary force, giving district votes to the Democratic Party and taking proportional seats, but the Reform Party is completely different," adding, "We will not just be beneficiaries of the People Power Party but will be an alternative force that criticizes the behavior of established politicians."
The candidate stated, "All members of the People Power Party know well that candidate Kim Moon-soo cannot win against candidate Lee Jae-myung," adding, "Nevertheless, the reason they persist is that party control is more important to them than winning the election."
He added, "I have already called for candidate Kim Moon-soo to resign. It is clear that he cannot win," stating, "However, I will not meet separately or discuss further."
He remarked, "Candidate Kim Moon-soo, who became a candidate with the pledge to unify with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, ignored that promise as soon as his objectives were achieved, and even after becoming the People Power Party candidate, he continues to cry out for unification with me, misleading the public with gaslighting."
The candidate addressed former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, saying, "I want to speak to the voters in Gwangju and Jeolla, as many politicians have claimed they would embody the spirit of Honam but have failed to do so," adding, "If candidate Lee Jae-myung does not appeal to you, the alternatives are either Lee Jun-seok or Lee Nak-yon. You will feel these things."
The candidate urged, "If you watch the final TV debate tonight, your judgment will become even clearer. Please give overwhelming support to Lee Jun-seok. I will surely win."
The candidate plans to enter a non-stop campaign schedule after finishing the last TV debate that day. On the 29th, he plans to visit Dongtan in his electoral district of Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, to participate in early voting.
