People Power Party Chairperson Kim Yong-tae noted on the 27th, "Even if unification does not occur, I am confident that Candidate Kim Moon-soo can win in a three-way race."
Chairperson Kim said after a media event that morning, in responding to reporters, "If the Reform Party clearly states that it has no intention of responding to the unification proposal, we need to respect that intention."
He said, "I have fully conveyed our intentions to the Reform Party, and I speculate that I have given a response to that intention through the media," adding, "The future meetings are currently uncertain."
Chairperson Kim reiterated, "I want to clarify that (the unification proposal) was not political engineering as described by the Reform Party," and emphasized, "People all over the country are asking to stop the dictatorship of Lee Jae-myung, and if the Reform Party says it cannot unify while bringing up anecdotes of individual politicians, then I will respect that intention as well."
He added, "However, to prevent Candidate Lee Jae-myung's unchecked power, many citizens will judge who the sure candidate is with their votes," stressing, "Only Kim Moon-soo can lead South Korea."
Meanwhile, Lee Nak-yon, a senior advisor to the New Future Democratic Party, is scheduled to hold a press conference that morning to announce his position on forming a joint government with Candidate Kim.
In response, Chairperson Kim said, "Last week (on May 20), I met with Jeon Byeong-heon, the leader of the New Future Democratic Party, and since then, we have met several times to align our intentions directly and indirectly," adding, "It is a sincere negotiation among many politicians to prevent the emergence of a monstrous state by a specific individual."
