The Democratic Party of Korea criticized Lee Nak-yon, a senior advisor to the New Future Democratic Party and former Prime Minister under the Moon Jae-in government, for agreeing to form a coalition government with Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, calling it "unconstitutional collusion."
Chairperson Kim Min-seok stated during a briefing on the 27th, "The collusion between candidate Kim Moon-soo and former representative Lee Nak-yon is destined to fail and perish, because it is unconstitutional."
Chairperson Kim noted, "(This senior advisor) overwhelmed by challenges in the Democratic Party, sought to incite insurrection and, when that became difficult, went outside to join candidate Lee Jun-seok, then attempted insurrection again, and now has become a part of the insurrectionist forces by joining candidate Kim Moon-soo," adding, "He has achieved the grand finale of his aspirations since his youth for a sakura march."
He emphasized, "The union between the two is unconstitutional collusion, insurrection collusion, collusion of turncoats, and collusion of negatives without a positive vision," stating they are "turncoats who have drained all the positive energy from democratic forces and are now cradled by insurrectionists."
Chairperson Kim also referenced the senior advisor's time as a journalist. He said, "(This senior advisor) initiated his youthful career in controversy with praise articles for Chun Doo-hwan, and when it came to joining, he found the most certain partner for scoring deductions, and it seems that his calculating ability collapsed when observing the People Power Party and candidate Kim."
Members of the Democratic Party also collectively voiced criticism against the alliance between candidate Kim and this senior advisor. They stand opposed to the senior advisor, who served as party leader, forming a coalition government with the People Power Party candidate.
Democratic Party member Park Ji-won expressed disbelief through Facebook on this day, stating, "It is shocking to hear that the senior advisor, who has served as a National Assembly member, governor, prime minister, and party leader, would agree to a coalition government with insurrectionist candidate Kim Moon-soo through constitutional amendment," adding, "His past, present, and future have all been consumed in flames."
