Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, said on the 23rd, "The Democratic Party of Korea's joint nomination with The Progressive Party, a descendant of the Unified Progressive Party, is rebellion."
During the 2nd candidate debate for the 21st presidential election held at the KBS headquarters studio in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, organized by the Central Election Broadcasting Debate Committee, candidate Lee Jae-myung asked Kim Moon-soo whether he intends to break from the former President Yoon Suk-yeol, the leader of rebellion, and whether he plans to sever ties with extreme right forces, including Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon. Kim avoided answering directly and stated this.
Kim stated, "Who did the People Power Party ally with to share the seats? They should first reflect on themselves," adding, "What are those people (The Progressive Party) doing now? They are trying to overthrow South Korea again."
In response to the allegation that Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon cried when he went to prison, Kim replied, "Don't spread false information."
Candidate Lee Jae-myung also asked candidate Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party, "Aren't you trying to unify with the forces of rebellion?"
In response, candidate Lee Jun-seok said, "I have stated that I have no interest in unification without exception," adding, "Lee Jae-myung is just fearful of that which only exists in his delusions. This is why he came to a place that should be asking important policy questions to resolve his own curiosities."
