The army noted on the 22nd that it is conducting training for the domestically produced Multiple Launch Rocket System Chunmoo against the Polish army.
This training, which began on the 15th at the Chunmoo Training Center located in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, includes a total of 32 participants: 16 members of the Polish army and 16 Korean officers and non-commissioned officers. The training will continue until the 30th. Poland operates the Homar-K, the Polish export version of Chunmoo.
The army is conducting training with the aim of improving practical operational capabilities through theoretical and hands-on training of Chunmoo. The training covers the Chunmoo system, firing missions, field equipment, and tactical operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Tomasz Kuchinski of the Polish army said, "It is very meaningful to receive training on Chunmoo in Korea," and noted, "By observing the automated firing system and the proficiency of the operators, I could see the excellence of Chunmoo and the superior training system of the Korean military."
The army plans to expand training to include the K9 howitzer and K2 tank. Additional courses for K9 howitzer and K2 tank operators and K9 howitzer and K2 electronic maintenance will be established in July and October. An army official stated, "We will promote the excellence of the Korean defense industry and training system while supporting defense exports."
