Yoon Ho-jung, a lawmaker and the head of the Democratic Party of Korea's election strategy committee, noted on the 22nd that a member of the People Power Party proposed unification in exchange for party leadership to Lee Jun-seok, the presidential candidate from the Reform Party. He said, 'I will take immediate action to file a complaint and clarify the facts.'
Yoon noted during the 6th meeting of the heads of the comprehensive headquarters held at the central party office in the morning, 'Suspicious transactions have been exposed, indicating that the People Power Party promised the position of next party leader to the candidate in exchange for unification.'
'If this is true, it is a direct violation of Article 232 of the Public Official Election Act regarding bribery and inducement of candidates,' he added, stating, 'This is a serious crime punishable by up to seven years in prison or a fine of 5 million won or more but less than 50 million won.'
Yoon stated, 'The People Power Party and Kim Moon-soo are not only floundering in the swamp of Yoon Suk-yeol and the sea of insurrection but are also turning this election into a quagmire,' adding, 'I will not overlook any attempt to distort the public's will.'
