Yoon Ho-jung, the chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea election campaign committee, said on the 22nd regarding Kim Yong-tae, the chairperson of the People Power Party emergency response committee's public apology related to the 'judicial risk' of former President Yoon Seok-yeol's spouse, Kim Keon-hee, "If it's sincere, let Kim Keon-hee face a prosecutor's investigation first."
Yoon noted during the 6th general chairperson's meeting held at the central party headquarters in the morning, "I hope the powerless appearance of not being able to enforce the expulsion of former President Yoon Seok-yeol is not repeated."
Previously, Chairperson Kim noted the day before, "The People Power Party sincerely apologizes to the public for not taking into account the people's concerns regarding Kim Keon-hee's past actions," adding, "I pledge to deeply reflect on this issue and fundamentally change."
In response, Yoon said, "The late-night proposal of the 'presidential candidate spouse debate' was a misstep," adding, "It is as if they have called forth that Kim Keon-hee has been the actual entity of the presidency for the past three years." He continued, "If that was a burden, the chairperson apologized late," insisting, "Let the individual, Kim Keon-hee, who still confuses herself as the First Lady, undergo a prosecutor's investigation first."
Yoon commented about the resignations of Lee Chang-soo, the chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and Jo Sang-won, the deputy chief prosecutor of the same office, saying, "What are you so afraid of that you rush to escape?" He added, "With their resignations, the investigation regarding Kim Keon-hee and Myung Tae-kyun has once again been thrown into disarray. It has been proven that only a special prosecutor is the answer."
