Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, noted on the 19th that even if there is earned income, the old age pension will not be reduced, and the state will support the nursing costs for the elderly.
On the same day morning, Kim attended a meeting with the Korea Senior Citizens Association in Jung-gu, Seoul, and said, "I will abolish the old age pension reduction system based on earned income so that individuals who work will not suffer losses to their pensions," adding, "I will gradually increase the basic pension for the vulnerable population below the bottom 50% of income to 400,000 won per month. I will ensure it can be raised as high as possible."
He emphasized that the state will actively support nursing costs to take care of the health of the elderly.
Kim said, "I will support the nursing costs for patients in long-term care hospitals to ensure that there is no term like 'nursing hell,'" and added, "For family caregivers, I will provide at least 500,000 won per month, and for spouses over 65 years of age, 1,000,000 won will be provided."
He also promised support related to dementia. Kim said, "I will try to maximize the available hours for dementia elderly care services," and added, "I will expand dementia management specialists nationwide and supply public housing for dementia relief to alleviate difficulties."
In addition, he stated that he would support the snack costs at senior centers to allow the elderly to gather for meals, and will strengthen AI education and distribution for the elderly to avoid being left behind in the digital age.
On this day, the Korea Senior Citizens Association proposed the expansion of support for elderly snack costs and designation of a UN Day.
