Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate continuing his campaign in the Gyeongnam region, on the 14th noted, "I will actively support the aerospace industry to ensure its success" and appealed to the voters of Gyeongnam, saying, "I will become a science president."
After meeting with market vendors at the Jinju Central Market in Gyeongnam that morning, Kim spoke during his campaign at the Gwangmi Intersection.
Kim emphasized, "Not only will we excel in aircraft manufacturing, but we will also develop launch vehicles to ensure that Jinju, Sacheon, and Gyeongnam become great cities venturing to the Moon, Mars, and beyond."
He added, "To achieve this, we need to develop the Aerospace Agency well, but I promise to secure funding for research and development so that students at Gyeongsang National University can study effectively and that aerospace-related fields can advance to a higher level."
Kim raised his voice, saying, "I will become a president of science and technology." He added, "Some may question how much we know about science and technology, but great scientists found the best nuclear experts in the world, regardless of whether they were in the U.S. or elsewhere, and they played a crucial role in creating today's POSCO steelworks, automobiles, shipbuilding, and K-defense industry. We must understand the value of science and technology and cultivate world-class experts to make Korea, particularly Jinju and Sacheon, a place conducive to science and technology and to raise the next generation."
Kim appealed to become an economic president who attracts good corporations, a job president who creates quality jobs for the youth, a livelihoods president who improves the quality of life, and a market president who revitalizes the market so that citizens can live happily.
He also remarked, "I received a lot of the positive energy from Jirisan that Jinju possesses and the good energy from the southern coast while staying in Jinju yesterday," adding, "I will fully embrace the spirit of Jinju, which has steadfastly protected Korea, the spirit of Nongae, dedicating oneself for the nation, the spirit of national defense, the spirit of education, the spirit of science, and the spirit of caring for economy and livelihoods to make Korea even greater."
After wrapping up his campaign schedule in Jinju, Kim plans to visit the Sacheon Aerospace Agency in Gyeongnam to tour research and development sites and meet with officials.
The People Power Party announced a pledge to leap into one of the world's top five science and technology powerhouses in line with Kim's campaign schedule. The party laid out a roadmap to conduct three additional launches of space launch vehicles by 2027, develop launch vehicle engines, explore the Moon by 2032, and Mars by 2045, aiming to become a global space powerhouse.
In particular, Gyeongnam promised to designate itself as a satellite-specialized region capable of integrating satellite manufacturing and development infrastructure based on the manufacturing capabilities of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Hanwha Aerospace. It also announced plans to build Sacheon as a space aerospace complex city.
