Kim Yong-tae, the designated chairperson of the People Power Party emergency committee, noted on the 14th regarding the relationship setting with former President Yoon Suk-yeol, "I will derive a solution that satisfies all members," and added, "Once I take office tomorrow (15th), I will be able to share the points of concern I have had."
On the same day, Kim visited the Boramae Park in Dongjak District, Seoul, and after paying respects at the memorial tower for victims of industrial accidents, he spoke to reporters.
Kim stated, "I am considering various options. Each member has slightly different thoughts and solutions. I remember that candidate Kim Moon-soo also mentioned that measures to expel the president from the party are inappropriate," and he added, "I will respect the candidate's statement and take into account the overall situation of the party."
Regarding the possibility of former President Yoon voluntarily leaving the party, he said, "In several interviews, I mentioned to the former president that if he selflessly sacrifices for the party, that would be the best option."
Kim noted that prior to the unification of the conservative parties with Lee Jun-seok, a candidate from the Reform Party, he considers it a priority to include former representative Han Dong-hoon, who competed in the presidential primary with him, in the election campaign committee.
He added, "To bring these individuals on board, I think the party needs to provide a proper justification. I am preparing to host them respectfully in consultation with the candidate. I hope to announce this soon."
He continued, "Former representative Han has served as the leader of the People Power Party and as an emergency committee chairperson, so I believe he understands better than anyone what I am asking for in terms of thoughts and feelings. I think his heart about winning the presidential election is no different, and his willingness to participate is very strong. I will contact him as the party changes and prepares."
Regarding former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who declared his retirement from politics after failing in the presidential primary, he remarked, "It is a very heartbreaking matter that those who supported former Mayor Hong are now supporting another candidate (Lee Jae-myung)," and he added, "I will ensure that former Mayor Hong is hosted respectfully and can join us."
