The Democratic Party of Korea criticized the People Power Party for undertaking an unprecedented presidential candidate replacement on the 10th, saying, "Everyone who participated in the People Power Party presidential primary has become a victim of fraud," and urged, "Declare an abandonment of the presidential election and voluntarily disband."
Spokesperson Hwang Jeong-a of the Democratic Party of Korea said in a written briefing on the morning of the day, "The tragic farce that connects tragedy to tragedy has ultimately ended with the conclusion of submitting the presidential candidate to the agent of insurrection," and made this statement.
Spokesperson Hwang noted, "A coup d'état has occurred again following the 12·3 insurrection. The presidential coup d'état has begun under the orders of Yoon Suk-yeol and the direction of the People Power Party," and said, "This time, the coup was carried out during the night when everyone was asleep."
He continued, "The candidate replacement proceeded swiftly," and added, "It is exactly the same as the 12·3 insurrection that broke the peaceful daily life of the people by serving Yoon Suk-yeol."
Spokesperson Hwang stated, "Everyone who participated in the People Power Party presidential primary has become a victim of fraud," and said, "At this point, it has transcended comedy or tragic farce to become a horror movie, a grotesque film."
He also criticized the People Power Party, saying, "They have completely lost the qualifications of a public party," and added, "They are merely remnants of insurrection and forces of coup d'état."
Spokesperson Hwang said, "The People Power Party, which violently seized the presidential candidate and submitted it to Yoon Suk-yeol's agent, should take down its party sign," and added, "Having disturbed constitutional order and shattered even party democracy, the People Power Party no longer has any value to exist."
He urged, "The People Power Party, which has declared itself the main party of insurrection beyond being an obstacle to the end of the insurrection, should declare an abandonment of the presidential election and voluntarily disband."
Earlier, as the unification negotiations between Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, and Han Duck-soo, an independent preliminary candidate, ultimately collapsed, the People Power Party held an emergency response committee meeting and an election management committee meeting simultaneously early that morning and decided on agenda items including canceling the selection of Kim as candidate and registering Han as a member and candidate.
