People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo said on the 10th, "I will immediately initiate legal and political action against the illegal and unjust replacement of candidates."
On that day, Kim held a press conference at the Yeouido presidential campaign office and stated, "Last night, the People Power Party's emergency response committee unlawfully deprived me, Kim Moon-soo, of my candidacy, which was legitimately chosen by the people and party members."
Kim stated, "A political coup occurred in the dead of night. An anti-democratic event has occurred that is unprecedented in the history of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea and even in the history of the world," and added, "Last night, our party's democracy died." He continued, "I will hold accountable those responsible for causing this situation, both legally and politically."
The People Power Party began procedures at dawn that day to reselect Han Duck-soo as the presidential candidate in place of Kim. Following a party-wide vote that will take place until 9 p.m. that day, the candidate replacement will be completed once the National Committee votes on the 11th.
