Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, will officially register as a candidate for the 21st presidential election on the 10th.
Joo Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the election strategy committee, noted during a briefing that afternoon. Joo said, "Kim Yoon-deok, the secretary-general of the central election strategy committee, will visit the National Election Commission at 9 a.m. on the 10th to register Lee's candidacy for the 21st presidential election."
Actor Lee Kwan-hoon will accompany the candidate on the registration schedule. Lee is described as one of the brave citizens who thwarted the military coup of December 3 and is a former member of the Army's 707th Special Mission Battalion.
Joo, the chief spokesperson, explained that "Lee was recognized for his courageous actions during the declaration of the emergency martial law, attempting to engage in dialogue with the martial law troops to prevent entry into the National Assembly," adding, "The selection of today's companion embodies the strong will of the Democratic Party to complete the revolution of light initiated by citizens during this presidential election and to restore the people's economy and rebuild the collapsed democracy."
He continued, "The candidate and the real central election strategy committee of Korea will strive to reclaim Korea, where the people are the masters, and create a nation that can leap forward again, together with the citizens."
