Previously, former Mayor Hong announced his retirement from politics and left the People Power Party after being cut off in the second primary.
However, since the party convention on the 3rd, as discord grew between the party and Kim's camp regarding the unification, former Mayor Hong has been issuing messages criticizing this daily.
On the 7th, former Mayor Hong claimed on Facebook, "The Yongsan and party leadership colluded to suddenly elevate Han Duck-soo (former Prime Minister) and turned the impeachment election into a vote of confidence for Yoon Suk-yeol." Two days later, on that day, he stated, "The party started to decline from the moment Yoon Suk-yeol brought them in, and now it is falling into an abyss with more absurd actions." The two individuals mentioned by former Mayor Hong were interpreted as Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, and Kwon Young-se, the chair of the emergency response committee, who are pushing for unification with the independent candidate.
