Independent presidential candidate Han Duck-soo strongly criticized the Democratic Party of Korea on the 6th, saying, "There is no process of dialogue and persuasion, which can be considered the basics of politics, and there are actions that spare no means or methods to win."
On the same day, candidate Han said during the keynote speech at the Kwanhun Club debate, "This kind of politics is no longer politics but violence."
Recently, after the Supreme Court issued a ruling nullifying the conviction of Lee Jae-myung, a candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding election law violations, it is interpreted that the Democratic Party is criticizing the pressure actions against the judiciary, such as reviewing the impeachment of Chief Justice Yoo Hee-dong.
Candidate Han said, "In our country's political history, there have always been 'great politicians' who put aside partisan interests and compromised for the sake of the entire nation when the country faced a crisis."
He continued, "But what is the political reality before us? Are the things that have happened in the political world constructive discussions that benefit the nation and the people?" and pointed out, "Everyone in our nation knows that it is not at all."
Candidate Han emphasized that only constitutional reform can rectify the chaotic political situation.
He stated, "I will definitely succeed in constitutional reform and reunite the divided Republic of Korea into one." He added, "If politics does not change through constitutional reform, neither livelihood, economy, diplomacy, nor any reforms can be properly promoted," and declared, "As soon as I succeed in constitutional reform, I will resign from my position."
Earlier, candidate Han had noted during his candidacy announcement on the 3rd that he would shorten the term of the 21st president to three years through decentralized constitutional reform and would resign from the presidency after conducting simultaneous presidential and general elections.
Candidate Han also emphasized the necessity of accompanying the weak.
He stated, "The welfare of the most vulnerable among us should be the standard for measuring our welfare," and added, "Only then can society and the economy function vigorously."
He pointed out, "However, these goals cannot be achieved through the Democratic Party's methods," and noted, "I have never seen a country that claims to have achieved the happiness of its people through such means as impeachment by the ruling party, unilateral budget cuts, or giving 250,000 won to every citizen."
Regarding the "resolution of trade issues," he expressed that he is the right person for the job. Candidate Han stated, "I will find a way for both countries to win-win," and emphasized, "The Republic of Korea has sufficient capability to engage in constructive negotiations with the United States. It is not just that the U.S. needs us, but we are also an important partner to the U.S."
