Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, said on the 6th, "The party has surprise convened a national committee and a party convention, and I believe this is an attempt by the party leadership to forcibly remove me as the legitimate presidential candidate."
On the afternoon of the same day, Kim met with reporters at the media center of the APEC HICO (conference hall) in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, and made these remarks.
Kim noted, "With less than a month until the presidential election, I have devoted all my efforts to communicating my vision for victory as the People Power Party candidate."
He added, "I have clearly shown my consistent will regarding unification and have a steady mind about it," while criticizing, "However, the party continues to refuse support for the presidential candidate."
Kim then said, "If this is the case, why did we hold the primary three times?" and declared, "As a primary candidate, I will suspend my campaign schedule from this point on." He continued, "And I will head to Seoul to prepare thoroughly for the various remaining issues."
Earlier, independent presidential candidate Han Duck-soo was scheduled to head to Daegu in the evening to meet with Kim and the People Power Party leadership.
However, it is noteworthy whether the two sides, who are experiencing "growing pains" regarding unification, will be able to meet after Kim announced, "I will suspend all schedules and head to Seoul."
