Yoo Sang-bum, head of the People Power Party unification promotion headquarters, met with Kim Moon-soo's aide, Kim Jae-won, on the morning of the 6th. This is interpreted as an effort to coordinate unification with independent candidate Han Duck-soo.
Kim's aide stated in a media briefing that "at around 8:30 a.m. today, Kim Jae-won and National Assembly member Yoo Sang-bum held a meeting at the camp office." He continued, "I have not received any notification regarding the deadline for unification being the 9th," adding, "There is nothing particularly to be disclosed to the media." He also mentioned, "The two are long-time friends and served as 'a fellowship of friendship' to comfort and encourage each other."
Meanwhile, People Power Party members Kim Dae-sik and Eom Tae-young are heading to Gyeongju to resolve the unification conflict between candidate Kim and the party leadership. Member Kim is going in his capacity as a first-term representative, while Member Eom is going as a second-term representative.
The People Power Party plans to hold a general assembly at the National Assembly starting at 2 p.m. that day to continue discussions related to unification. The chairpersons of the party's local chapters outside the National Assembly also decided to hold a press conference that afternoon to urge unification.
