Kim Beom-suk, Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, urged on the 2nd, "We must do our utmost to maintain external credibility without wavering in any situation and to minimize the impact of tariffs, and please execute the supplementary budget as quickly as possible."
Acting Minister Kim chaired an expanded executive meeting at 9:30 a.m. that day and made this announcement. The meeting included the Second Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and other key executives. He reviewed major work issues by organization, including trade-related matters with the United States and the implementation of the supplementary budget.
He also instructed, "While putting all efforts into maintaining external credibility and minimizing the impact of tariffs, please promptly execute the supplementary budget to effectively address urgent issues such as disaster response, support for trade and artificial intelligence (AI), support for livelihoods, and bolstering the construction economy."
He further noted, "All employees of the Ministry of Economy and Finance must faithfully carry out their duties without wavering in any situation," and urged that "Director Generals take the lead."
