Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, noted on the 1st regarding the 'unification efforts' of Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, that "the public will not be fooled by such political theatrics."
On the same day, the floor leader remarked during a meeting of the emergency committee held at the National Assembly that "(the candidate) is acting nice because the election is just around the corner."
He said, "(The Democratic Party) has proposed worsened versions of the special investigation laws that have been rejected several times, and they are pretending to be nice while preparing for political retaliation behind the scenes, in a duplicitous and deceptive manner."
He then asked, "What has the candidate been doing for the past three years? The Democratic Party has turned into a 'pro-Lee Jae-myung paradise and anti-Lee Jae-myung hell,'" and stated, "It has turned the National Assembly into a battlefield of legislative dictatorship, with impeachment motions and special investigation laws rampant." He added, "What kind of unification can they talk about while doing this?"
The floor leader also stated, "The candidate said, 'Let's not be tied down by the past, ideology, or faction,' but the party that constantly brands others as indigenous traitors while inciting anti-Japanese sentiment is none other than the Democratic Party."
He mentioned that the Democratic Party named its election countermeasure committee the 'Real Republic of Korea Campaign Committee,' but he said, "The 'real Republic of Korea' that the candidate calls for is a black comedy of self-denial and memory manipulation."
