The People Power Party began voting for 50% of the election committee and 50% of the public opinion poll on the candidates who have advanced to the second round of the presidential election: Kim Moon-soo, Ahn Cheol-soo, Han Dong-hoon, and Hong Joon-pyo (in alphabetical order) on the 27th.
If a candidate receives a majority of votes in the two-day voting, they will be confirmed as the party's presidential candidate. Otherwise, a final contest will be held between the top two candidates based on a voting ratio of 50% from party members and 50% from the general public.
The candidates were actively pursuing voters among party members and supporters on that day.
In particular, with speculation that the entry of Han Duck-soo, the acting Prime Minister, is imminent, statements continued to absorb the support of the voter base hoping for unification with Han.
On that day, Candidate Kim held a press conference and emphasized, "As a candidate who has consistently argued for unification since the early stages of the primary, if Acting Prime Minister Han runs, I will immediately visit him and ensure the success of the unification."
It is interpreted as an attempt to highlight differences with Ahn Cheol-soo, who has expressed a negative stance on Acting Prime Minister Han's candidacy, and Han Dong-hoon and Hong Joon-pyo, who recently expressed their support for unification with Han.
Following the joint debate of the four candidates the previous day, criticism regarding Han's pledge to create five megacities within two years also continued.
Choi In-ho, the senior deputy spokesperson, noted, "A pledge is a promise made to the public. Packaging an unfeasible plan as if it is possible is deceiving the citizens," and suggested that Han should revise the pledge immediately.
Candidate Hong stated through Facebook that, "If I become the final candidate, I will hold two discussions on unification with Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and conduct a one-shot nationwide primary" and emphasized, "Even if I can't become our party's presidential candidate, I will gladly choose that path if I can defeat Lee Jae-myung."
Candidate Hong, who was initially negative about Acting Prime Minister Han's presidential candidacy and unification, has recently expressed a proactive stance towards unification with Han after stating on the 23rd, "If Acting Prime Minister Han resigns and runs, I will keep the path open for negotiation on unification against Lee Jae-myung."
Candidate Ahn noted during a press conference that, "Currently, public support for impeachment is over 60%" and stated, "I cannot defeat Lee Jae-myung as a candidate who opposes impeachment and supports martial law. There is no justification for a politician who comes from the legal profession."
Ahn also reaffirmed his negative stance regarding Acting Prime Minister Han's candidacy, saying in an interview with reporters, "I think it is appropriate for Prime Minister Han to lower tariffs by at least 1% through negotiations with the U.S. while properly managing the presidential election." He added, "However, if he decides to run for president, ultimately, we must select the final candidate through the primaries with our party's final candidate."
On that day, Candidate Han will make every effort to secure the support of party members by holding meetings with city and district council members and party members in Incheon, followed by regional meetings in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.
Candidate Han appealed on Facebook, saying, "If you create drama in the primary voting, I, Han Dong-hoon, will defeat Lee Jae-myung from the Democratic Party," and urged, "Please make the winning choice and choose me, Han Dong-hoon."
