Kim Moon-soo, a candidate for the People Power Party's presidential primary, said on the 25th that he would mandate the application of first-class soundproofing technology in newly built dwellings to resolve the soundproofing issues in public housing.
Candidate Kim announced his presidential campaign pledge of 'mandatory soundproofing in multi-family dwellings' at a campaign office in Yeouido, Seoul, on that morning.
Candidate Kim stated, "For newly built dwellings, I plan to mandate the application of first-class technology developed domestically and to reorganize the post-certification system so that reliable supplemental construction and compensation can be made when performance inspection standards are not met after completion."
The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has secured 12 cases of first-class soundproofing technology after a total of nine demonstrations, and it was reported by Kim's camp that noise and vibration significantly decrease when this technology is applied to floor structures.
He also presented solutions for the soundproofing issues in existing dwellings. The plan includes expanding support projects for performance enhancement, such as high-performance flooring, and providing incentives like reductions in property tax for households that voluntarily acquire soundproofing performance certification.
Candidate Kim noted, "The issue of soundproofing is recognized as a serious social problem that goes beyond simple noise issues, and we will manage it accordingly."
