Kim Moon-soo, a candidate in the People Power Party presidential primary, noted on the 24th that some claimed former President Yoon Suk-yeol's emergency martial law was 'an enlightenment decree' and said it was 'a quite sensible remark.' Han Dong-hoon, another candidate, stated that he 'does not believe' in the assassination theory raised by broadcaster Kim Eo-jun.
On that day, during the second primary 'one-on-one showdown debate' held at Channel A studio in Jongno, Seoul, the two candidates responded to 'voter questions' as such.
In response to the question, 'Some refer to the proclamation of emergency martial law as an enlightenment decree; do you agree?' Kim said, 'Young people and politically indifferent layers have realized how much the Democratic Party has done brutal things in the National Assembly, and the term 'enlightenment decree' arose from that context. I think it was quite a sensible remark.'
He added, 'I had no interest while living my life because I was busy, but I've started to realize that the National Assembly has done so many ridiculous things, how many impeachments they've carried out, how many special investigations they've initiated, and how much they've cut the budget, by listening to presidential speeches and hearing various discussions on the media, leading to the realization that the Democratic Party has done many bad deeds, making the National Assembly a dictatorship.'
Han, in response to the question, 'To what extent do you believe in the assassination theory suggested by Kim Eo-jun?' replied, 'I do not believe what Kim Eo-jun said.'
He stated, 'I tried not to speak based on speculation beyond what I have experienced. I didn't interfere in the book either,'
'However, it was reported that my name was included in the list of arrests during the trial process. I have not directly confirmed anything beyond these reports,' he said.
Earlier, on December 6th of last year, while serving as party leader, Han raised the 'politician arrest suspicion,' claiming that he had confirmed through credible evidence that the president mobilized intelligence agencies for the arrest of politicians, and first suggested the need for a prompt suspension of President Yoon's duties and impeachment proceedings.
Later, on the 13th of the same month, progressive broadcaster Kim Eo-jun appeared as a witness at the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee's inquiry, claiming, 'I received reports about plans for operations, that 'if Han Dong-hoon, the People Power Party leader, is arrested and transferred, the 'politician assassination team' will kill him, and regarding the possibilities of biochemical terrorism and North Korea's involvement and bomb guidance plans.'
