The four candidates of the People Power Party attended the "Media Day for the Second Primary Debate" event held at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 23rd and expressed their determination before the debate.
Candidate Han Dong-hoon responded to Candidate Hong Joon-pyo's statement that "To get out of the traitor frame, former President Yoon should apologize," by saying, "The primary is to win, and in that process, we must boldly discuss the present and future."
He emphasized, "If it goes to the final round, the time to face Representative Lee Jae-myung will decrease," and stressed, "The primary should end in a majority among the four candidates."
Candidate Kim Moon-soo hinted at a willingness to accept Candidate Ahn's request for a public apology from the three candidates regarding the impeachment situation.
He said, "We can do whatever the people want. We don't think we did everything well, nor do we think we did nothing. We will do what can make the people happy."
Regarding the view that "the popularity has declined," he did not deny it, stating, "There must be many factors. However, I was thinking that former President Yoon would return while serving as Minister of Employment and Labor, but I was dismissed, which itself could make our supporters dejected and confused," and analyzed, "Since then, the concerns about where to go, including the founding of (Yoon Seok-yeol's) new party, have not yet been organized."
Candidate Ahn expressed confidence in response to the question, "Among the four, the support of incumbent lawmakers is low."
He stated, "The primary is decided by party members and the public at a ratio of 50 to 50. It is important how to gain the hearts of party members and the public," and added, "If the public moves closer and party members strategically choose which candidate can defeat Candidate Lee Jae-myung, I am confident in that regard."
