People Power Party Chairperson Kwon Young-se said on the 21st, "The People Power Party will end the era of the National Assembly in Yeouido, which has become a symbol of old politics, as promised in the last general election, and open a new door to the era of the National Assembly in Sejong."
Chairperson Kwon said at the emergency committee meeting held that day in the National Assembly, "We will make a decisive shift in politics by moving the center of politics to the provinces, creating new momentum for balanced national development, and opening a new political order for efficient national management. The People Power Party will responsibly conclude this determination."
He noted, "The public demand for political reform is higher than ever," adding that although many era-related tasks, including constitutional amendments, lie ahead of us, it is now time to push for physical and spatial reforms together. He continued, "We are facing an unfortunate reality of arrogance from the dominant power, legislative overreach, damage to the constitutional order, and destruction of state affairs," and added, "We must boldly end the 50 years of political grammar commonly referred to as the Yeouido language."
Chairperson Kwon mentioned regarding the remaining site of the Yeouido National Assembly after the transfer to Sejong, "I will fully return it to the people," stating, "I will transform Yeouido, the heart of Seoul, into an open plaza shared freely by citizens, youth, and future generations." He further added that a "Yeouido National Assembly National Return Promotion Committee" would be formed.
He also said, "The People Power Party promised a second presidential office in Sejong during the last general election," adding, "We will accelerate the construction of the second presidential office in Sejong."
