Hong Joon-pyo, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, pointed out on the 21st that his prominent rival, Han Dong-hoon, is "fixated on appearance and only takes selfies, which is nothing more than narcissism."
The day before, candidate Hong said through Facebook, "If you want to continue in politics, you shouldn't be doing image politics. If you can't even understand that question, it seems only B-list figures are gathered in that camp."
During the People Power Party's primary debate the day before, candidate Hong told Han, "I am a political senior. No matter what you ask, don't take it harshly," and added, "There was a question asking why you wear height-increasing shoes when you are already tall."
He continued, "There was also a question about whether my hair is natural or if I wear corrective underwear, but I won't ask such childish things." In response, Han said, "That's quite childish."
Hong noted, "Insight and wisdom come from having substance rather than appearance. If I had been the party leader during the martial law, I would have communicated and cooperated with the presidential office so that such a martial law situation would never have occurred from the start. There wouldn't have been a disastrous defeat in the general election, nor would there have been an impeachment."
