Lee Jun-seok, the Reform Party presidential candidate, assessed the founding of the 'Yoon Again Party' on the 18th as a "test by" former President Yoon.
On the 17th, the impeachment trial defense team for former President Yoon Seok-youl announced plans to establish the 'Yoon Again Party' named after him, but withdrew the announcement just four hours later.
The candidate noted on SBS radio that morning, "Former President Yoon Seok-youl will pretend that (his impeachment defense team is founding the party) unilaterally, while hoping for public reactions in his heart."
The candidate continued, "I think that being too interested in (the news of former President Yoon's party founding) might actually be what former President Yoon wants. I will not give any attention to it."
He also claimed, "It's speculation, but there are probably people who can't even contact the People Power Party members they used to talk to. That's why (former President Yoon) might feel betrayed and is struggling alone."
Regarding former President Yoon's future political activities, he said, "He will make efforts, but it seems like it will be burdensome for him to go to court." He added, "I don't think his political influence will expand or anything like that."
Earlier, Baek Ui-cheol, a lawyer from former President Yoon's people's defense team, intended to hold a press conference on the establishment of the 'Yoon Again Party' in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 18th, but suddenly canceled the position.
Lawyer Baek stated, "Former President Yoon said, 'Now is the time to consolidate our strength,' and he advised against the press conference, explaining that in a situation filled with misunderstandings and speculation, it could burden the president, so it was decided to postpone it for now."
