The People Power Party formed a presidential election preparation committee on the 17th and embarked on preparations for an official presidential campaign.
Once the party's presidential candidate is selected, the preparation committee will immediately establish an election strategy committee to begin systematic election campaigning by preparing an overall campaign and roadmap.
Representative Yoon Jae-ok (fourth term, Daegu Dalseo-eul) was appointed as the chairperson, and Representative Jeong Jeom-sik (third term, Gyeongnam Tongyeong-Goseong) was appointed as the vice-chairperson.
Representatives Im Lee-ja, Kim Hee-jung, Jang Dong-hyuk, Jeong Hee-yong, Kang Myung-koo, Kim Yong-tae, Seo Ji-young, Lee Sang-hwi, Jo Ji-yeon, and Joo Jin-woo are participating as Commissioners.
Representative Yoon stated, "Compared to the Democratic Party, which has been preparing for an early presidential election since the impeachment, our start is quite late. There were circumstances that made late preparation inevitable, but that cannot be an excuse."
He continued, "Just as the tortoise won the race against the rabbit, being ahead does not guarantee victory. If we prepare more thoroughly and with a desperate mindset, I believe we can win. We will act quickly, wisely, and without gaps."
Emergency countermeasure committee chair Kwon Young-se said, "Time is absolutely short, and the political situation is turbulent," and noted, "Even in chaotic circumstances, the presidential election preparation committee must solidify the party's ranks and serve as a true control tower to regain the public's trust."
