The People Power Party's Election Management Committee for the 21st presidential candidate announced on the 15th that a total of 11 individuals have registered as candidates for the primary election. Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has confirmed that he will not participate in the intra-party primary as expected.
The Election Management Committee will begin reviewing preliminary candidates and will announce the list of official candidates participating in the first primary on the 16th.
The main candidates include former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, lawmakers Na Kyung-won and Ahn Cheol-soo, former lawmaker Yang Hyang-ja, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo, former representative Han Dong-hoon, and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo (in alphabetical order).
In addition, Mr. Kang Sung-hyun, former People Power Party's Seoul Election Countermeasures Committee Gangnam-gap organizational advisor Kim Min-sook, and former Unification Promotion Headquarters Public Relations Director Jeong Il-gwon also registered as candidates.
The Election Management Committee will announce the results of the first preliminary primary (cut-off) on the 22nd, after candidate debates conducted by groups from the 18th to the 20th. In this process, only the results of the public opinion survey (public sentiment 100%) will be reflected.
