Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, said on the 14th regarding former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, "With corruption allegations, disruption of energy supply chains, and a decline in global competitiveness, it seems that at this point, it is no different from a sabotage force trying to prevent South Korea from thriving."
On the same day, Kweon noted at a meeting of the party's emergency response committee that Lee's first official schedule after declaring his candidacy for the presidential election was a visit to an artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor design startup, Furiosa AI.
He said, "The public has already experienced the reality of the Lee Jae-myung investment and development model through the allegations surrounding Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong," and added, "Although public leadership was emphasized, in the end, only certain groups like Hwacheon Daeyu and Cheonhwa Dongin received astronomical benefits." He continued, "The former leader, who claimed to be above board, refused to attend court hearings in Daejang-dong five times, and thus, public concerns that the Lee Jae-myung industrial pledges may lead to more privileges and corruption are not unfounded."
Kweon also stated, "Looking at Lee's past actions, it appears he has a very limited understanding of advanced industries," and added, "Advanced industries like AI and semiconductors require stable and cheap power supply, but Lee Jae-myung has consistently advocated for nuclear phase-out, stating that 'nuclear power is a time bomb, and nuclear power must be halted.'" He also mentioned, "He even acknowledged that he had no words in response to the question, 'Why can't it work?' yet he reversed his position 180 degrees on the special exception for the 52-hour workweek research and development at the mere word of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions."
