Representative Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party, who declared his candidacy for the presidential election, said on the 12th, “Those who betray the Constitution will inevitably fail against Lee Jae-myung (former representative of the Democratic Party), who faces criminal charges.”
He mentioned former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who are considered key presidential candidates within the party.
On this day, Ahn noted in a post on his Facebook, “The presidential impeachment decision was a constitutional judgment by the Constitutional Court to protect the liberal democratic constitutional order, and I supported the impeachment,” adding, “In contrast, former Minister Kim Moon-soo and former Mayor Hong Joon-pyo opposed the impeachment until the end, defending the destruction of constitutional power.”
He further added, “This is an act of deliberately abandoning the duty to protect the Constitution and a direct challenge to the liberal democratic constitutional order.”
Ahn continued, “Mayor Oh Se-hoon was even more cowardly,” stating, “Initially, he suggested the necessity of impeachment but soon blurred his stance and equivocated in the face of political expediency. There was no appearance of a responsible politician, only opportunistic calculations were visible.”
Ahn emphasized, “For such individuals to claim they will judge Lee Jae-myung is hypocritical without justification,” saying, “Those who turn their backs on the Constitution have no right to speak of justice. Those who betray constitutional values cannot become president, and ultimately cannot defeat Lee Jae-myung.”
