Former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung received over 50% support in a hypothetical one-on-one match against all candidates of the People Power Party, according to a public opinion poll released on the 11th.
Ace Research, commissioned by Newsis, conducted a survey from the 8th to 9th targeting 1,212 men and women aged 18 and older across the country, with results showing a margin of error of ±2.8% at a 95% confidence level.
In a hypothetical one-on-one match between former representative Lee and former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, support for Lee was 52%, while support for Kim was 36.8%. Lee led Kim by 15.2 percentage points (P).
In the one-on-one match between former representative Lee and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, 52.2% supported Lee, while 34.0% supported Mayor Hong. The gap between the two responses was 18.2%p.
In the one-on-one match between former representative Lee and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Lee received 53.5%, while Mayor Oh received 31.9%. The gap was 21.6%p.
In the one-on-one match between former representative Lee and former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, Lee received 53.4% and Han received 27.5%. The gap of 25.9%p was the largest among the hypothetical matches.
Among the undecided voters who answered that they had no supporting party in the hypothetical matches, responses included 'Lee Jae-myung (34.5%) - Kim Moon-soo (38.6%)', 'Lee Jae-myung (35.4%) - Oh Se-hoon (31.5%)', 'Lee Jae-myung (37.5%) - Hong Joon-pyo (35.8%)', and 'Lee Jae-myung (39.2%) - Han Dong-hoon (29.5%)'.
Meanwhile, results also showed that the gap in approval ratings between the two parties was outside the margin of error. The Democratic Party's approval rating was 43.2%, and the People Power Party's approval rating was 33.5%. Following them, the Justice Innovation Party was at 3.5%, the Reform Party at 2.7%, and the Progressive Party at 0.6%. 11.4% of respondents answered that they had no supporting party, while 4.2% indicated support for other parties.
This survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire through a mobile Random Digit Dialing sampling frame using the Automatic Response System (100% mobile). The response rate was 3.5%, with a margin of error of ±2.8%p at a 95% confidence level. Detailed information can be found on the Central Election Polling Review Committee's website.
