Representative Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party strongly opposed former Representative Han Dong-hoon's candidacy for the presidency. He also pointed out that candidates like Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who are expected to run on the 13th and 14th, have allegations of 'Myungtaekyun,' which could weaken their competitiveness in the main election.
On the 11th, Representative Ahn stated at a pledge announcement event held by the Daegu City Council for the Daegu and Gyeongbuk region, 'Former Representative Han is the person who has received the most benefits, having served as the Minister of Justice in the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.'
He continued, 'Under former Representative Han, the People Power Party suffered the worst defeat in history in the general election' and 'The fact that he is a former prosecutor with little political experience is similar to that of former President Yoon. Although he attempts to differentiate himself, he ranks lowest in head-to-head polls against Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung.'
Regarding Acting President Han Duck-soo's 'candidacy theory,' he said, 'I believe it is physically and historically difficult' and added, 'Even during the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye, Hwang Kyo-ahn, the Prime Minister, only managed the election.'
Representative Ahn mentioned concerning Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, 'If candidates who are attacked due to Myungtaekyun risks make it to the main election, winning will be difficult for our party' and stressed, 'Both need to clearly explain the allegations raised by the media.'
He added, 'I believe that former President Yoon's influence through future private residence politics will not work in this election.'
Representative Ahn emphasized, 'I am an expert who outperforms Lee Jae-myung in terms of morality and can develop the artificial intelligence industry and resolve the medical crisis,' noting, 'Before entering politics, I donated half of my wealth and practiced noble obligation.'
Representative Ahn appealed, 'During the 2022 presidential election, I firmly believed that Lee Jae-myung should never become president, which led to my decision for candidate unification to achieve regime change,' adding, 'My feeling has not changed. I ask for the opportunity to rectify my mistakes.'
Regarding the candidate selection method for the People Power Party announced the day before, he remarked, 'Will a farmer blame the field? Since it was officially announced, it cannot be overturned,' and stated, 'I will do my best in my own way.'
