Former floor leader of the Reform Party, Representative Yang Hyang-ja, will join the People Power Party after leaving the party and run in the 21st presidential election.
Chairperson Kwon Young-se met with Representative Yang on the 10th and told reporters, "Former Representative Yang has decided to join our party."
On the same day, Representative Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party noted, "Representative Yang called and said she would run as a candidate for the presidency in the People Power Party," and added, "She said she does not intend to align with the insurgent forces."
Representative Yang, from Gwangju, joined Samsung Electronics as a research assistant in the semiconductor memory design office in 1985 after graduating high school. She is regarded as a remarkable figure, being the first high school graduate to rise to an executive position at Samsung Electronics.
Chairperson Kwon noted, "Currently, the entire world is engaged in a silent war to seize technological supremacy," and added, "I believe that individuals with deep knowledge of this industry can play a significant role in politics."
