The leadership of the People Power Party on the 10th continued strong criticism toward former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, who resigned from his party leadership to run in the 21st presidential election, saying, "Is Lee Jae-myung the highest dignity of South Korea?" and "If he becomes president, he will complete a dictatorship system."
Kwon Young-se, the head of the emergency countermeasures committee, criticized during the emergency meeting held at the National Assembly that the Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik had to withdraw his proposal for a simultaneous referendum on the presidential election and constitutional amendment due to backlash within the Democratic Party, saying, "Even the Speaker of the National Assembly, who is second in national ranking, has been ruthlessly trampled."
He added, "That is why there are derisive remarks among the public like, 'The highest dignity of North Korea is Kim Jong-un, and the highest dignity of South Korea is Lee Jae-myung.' Many people are seriously worried about how recklessly he would wield power if he were to become president, even though this is the current situation."
Kweon Seong-dong also sharpened his attacks. He pointed out that the last Supreme Council meeting before Lee's resignation was filled with "embarrassingly flattering declarations," indicating that the Democratic Party's primary was merely a ceremony to endorse Lee Jae-myung.
He evaluated the three years under the leadership of Lee Jae-myung as a period of chaos and destruction that shook the foundations of the country for the personal greed of Lee, saying, "If the former leader seizes all national power beyond legislative power, what will happen to South Korea?" He emphasized, "On June 3, the People Power Party, together with the great public, will surely end the era of chaos and destruction of Lee Jae-myung."
He also stated, "If Lee Jae-myung becomes president, a dictatorship will be completed," and that he would "cruelly wield the sword of arrogance and revenge, driving South Korea into a quagmire of division and civil war."
He mentioned, "This presidential election is a choice between whether to select the Lee Jae-myung forces that lead to extreme confrontation and national confusion, or the People Power Party that opens a new era of people's stability and national unity," adding, "The People Power Party will unite with all citizens who care for the country and are worried about the future to create a stable and unified South Korea."
