Commissioner Noh Tae-ak said on the 9th regarding the presidential election on June 3 that, "I recognize the significance of this election, which is held under severe circumstances, and I will manage the election strictly and fairly."
Chairperson Noh noted during a public address at the Gwacheon Central Election Management Commission headquarters on that day, "Although there is a short period, I will do my best to ensure that the people's will is fully reflected in the election results with extraordinary determination and thorough preparation."
Chairperson Noh stated, "Our country has experienced significant political chaos amid intense conflict between parties for more than four months since the martial law, intertwined with claims of election fraud. Despite numerous election fraud lawsuits being dismissed by the Supreme Court as baseless, I feel sad about the continuing such claims."
He added, "In every public election, in addition to over 3,000 election commission staff nationwide, external personnel exceeding 300,000, including local government and national public officials, public institution staff, school employees, and ordinary citizens, participate as ballot counters. Thus, election fraud as claimed by some cannot occur."
Chairperson Noh highlighted, "With the start of the preliminary candidate registration on the 4th, the official presidential election schedule has begun. I will present all processes of the ballot counting procedure, which receives significant public attention, as they are."
The election commission plans to enhance the transparency and accuracy of the election process through the 24-hour public release of the voting record form and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the advance voting storage locations introduced during the last national election.
Chairperson Noh stated, "If related lawsuits are filed after the election and there are requests for server verification according to legal procedures or requests for verification of the election process at the National Assembly level, I will actively cooperate." He noted, "This could become another opportunity to completely dispel allegations of election fraud."
He continued, "Currently, our country is experiencing very serious political and social conflicts and chaos. Nevertheless, accepting the election results is the most fundamental promise in a democratic country." He urged, "Not only parties and candidates but also I ask all citizens to respect and accept the election results once again."
