North Korea briefly reported the news of the impeachment ruling the day after the removal of former President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 5th.
Korean Central News Agency reported that on the same day, 'the Constitutional Court of Korea announced the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol on April 4,' adding that 'in accordance with the decision unanimously adopted by the eight judges, Yoon Suk-yeol was immediately removed from the presidency.'
It also added, 'The Constitutional Court's ruling came 111 days after the National Assembly approved the impeachment motion against Yoon Suk-yeol during the emergency martial law situation on December 3 of last year.'
The agency noted that major foreign news outlets, including the Associated Press, Reuters, and The Guardian, urgently reported the news of former President Yoon's removal, stating, 'The Constitutional Court cited the National Assembly's impeachment in relation to the declaration of a state of emergency that triggered the worst political crisis.'
Earlier, North Korea quickly reported the Constitutional Court's impeachment citation just 2 hours and 20 minutes after former President Park Geun-hye was removed in March 2017. However, this time, it did not report on the same day.
This seems to indicate that North Korea is intentionally trying to distance itself from South Korea in a situation where it has declared inter-Korean relations as 'an antagonistic relationship between two nations.'
North Korea did not provide separate reports for more than a week when former President Yoon declared a state of emergency on December 3 last year. When the impeachment motion against Yoon Suk-yeol was approved by the National Assembly, it only briefly reported the relevant news based on facts two days later.
