National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik said on the 4th regarding the Constitutional Court's decision to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol, "Today, we have reaffirmed that no one in the Republic of Korea can stand above the law."
During a public address at the National Assembly that afternoon, Speaker Woo stated, "I have made it clear that regardless of the power, any unconstitutional or illegal act will be held accountable."
He emphasized, "Today's decision by the Constitutional Court is not a victory for one side. It is a victory for the Constitution and a victory for democracy."
He also remarked, "Even in a shocking situation, we restored the constitutional order in a democratic and peaceful manner according to constitutional procedures. We have shown remarkable democratic resilience to the world," adding, "Today's decision will lead the Republic of Korea to become a sturdier democratic nation by leaving a serious example for future generations."
